CONNECT Conference + Showcase
The CONNECT Conference + Showcase took place from June 3 to 5, 2024, at The Event Centre, Caloundra on Gubbi Gubbi Country.
Over three days, more than 125 delegates, including artists, producers, presenters, and stakeholders from Mount Isa to the Gold Coast, and national organisations, gathered to engage and collaborate. The event marked the official launch of Queensland's new touring and engagement services, QTouring.
Focusing on community engagement and placemaking in regional areas, the conference featured keynotes from renowned leaders such as Lindy Hume AM, David Engwicht, and Aimee Davies, director of the Hey Mate Project.
Highlights included Touring 101 roundtables for sharing touring tips and the Meet the Presenters – Reverse Pitching session, which fostered numerous new connections.
The showcase program, received 64 applications, presented 18 artists through 7 excerpt performances, 6 pitches, and 5 company updates across various genres, including theatre, dance, circus, cabaret, community engagement musical theatre and both classical and contemporary music. Twelve of the showcasing artists were from outside Brisbane.
With many new faces among presenters and producers, the event underscored our collective responsibility to support the arts in Queensland.
