With a fresh focus on arts markets and touring opportunities, the event successfully brought together Queensland’s leading artists, producers, and presenters for three days of networking, performances, and knowledge-sharing.

CONNECT was not only a conference, but a launchpad for future touring opportunities, strengthened industry ties, and showcased the talent driving Queensland’s performing arts sector.

This edition of CONNECT celebrated the launch of QTouring, Queensland’s new Touring and Engagement Services, an initiative supported by Arts Queensland. This new service aims to expand touring opportunities and foster deeper engagement between artists and regional communities, marking a significant step forward for the state’s arts sector.

The conference featured a wide range of opportunities for the sector. Artists and producers pitched their latest works in the official Showcase Program, while others connected informally with delegates at the Locals Expo. Presenters and programmers used the opportunity to explore new works and build relationships with peers, setting the stage for future collaborations. These meetings offered valuable insights into touring strategies and opened doors for partnerships that will shape performing arts programming across Queensland.

A highlight of this year’s CONNECT was the return of Queensland’s Touring Showcase, where artists and companies presented pitches, creative excerpts, and project updates. The showcase sessions proved to be a valuable way for presenters to discover new content for future tours. You can find many of these showcasing works listed across the QTouring website.

CONNECT reignited relationships within the arts community whilst inspiring new partnerships and creative projects. With its dynamic mix of showcases, panels, and networking opportunities, CONNECT 2024 set the tone for future events and reaffirming Queensland’s commitment to fostering vibrant arts communities across the state.
